Jewelry Repair

At J. David Jewelry we repair fine jewelry on our own benches at three Tulsa showrooms, in Broken Arrow, South Tulsa and Brookside. Bring in any piece, wherever it came from. The estimate is free, and most repairs are home in two to three weeks.

Wherever it came from

Most of what comes to our bench was not bought here. That is fine with us. A ring is a ring, and a broken clasp does not care where the necklace was sold. Bring it in. One of our goldsmiths will look at it with you, tell you what it needs, and tell you what it will cost. The looking is free.

What we repair

Rings with foundations worn thin by years of a hand doing its work. Settings that have worn flat and are holding a diamond by habit more than by metal. Clasps that no longer close, chains that have broken at the same weak link twice, earring posts that bent the night they were caught in a sweater. Bracelets missing a link. Pendants that have come off their bails. Settings that have loosened enough that a gem moves when you press it.

If gold or platinum is involved and it is broken, bent, thin or loose, it belongs on our bench.

Tips and crowns

This is the repair we wish more people asked for before they needed it. A setting wears thin long before a diamond falls out, and the wearing is slow enough that nobody notices until the day the diamond is gone. Rebuilding a tip takes a goldsmith minutes. Finding a diamond in a parking lot takes longer than that, and usually does not end well. If your ring is more than a few years old and has never been looked at, bring it in and let us look at the setting under the loupe. No charge for the looking.

Come In, or Text Us

Show Us What Happened.

There are two ways to start, and neither is the wrong one. Bring the piece to any of our three Tulsa showrooms and we look it over with you there — that is the solid answer, because the piece is in hand. Or start by text and schedule an appointment. Send a photo and tell us what happened, and we’ll do our best from a picture: an honest first read, knowing a photograph shows the break, not how the metal has worn or how a diamond is held.

How it works

Bring the piece to any of our three showrooms. A goldsmith or a member of the floor team examines it, and you get an estimate on the spot, in writing if you like. Say yes and it goes on the bench schedule. Most repairs are finished in two to three weeks; a simple job can be faster, and we will tell you if yours is one. When it is ready we text you, and you pick it up at the showroom you left it at, or another if that is easier.

What we will tell you honestly

Some pieces have been sized so many times that the foundation is mostly solder. Some antique settings are too fragile to work on without replacing them. When that is the case, we say so before any work starts, and we will tell you what we would do if it were ours.

Two repairs have pages of their own: ring resizing and setting repair. An heirloom that needs more than a repair goes to restoration.

Good Questions

The things people actually ask.

Do you repair jewelry that wasn’t bought at J. David?

Yes. Most of what comes to our bench was bought somewhere else. Bring it to any of our three showrooms and we will look at it for free.

How much does a jewelry repair cost?

It depends on the piece and the work, so we do not quote from a description. Bring it in, and the estimate is free and given on the spot. Nothing starts until you say yes.

How long does a repair take?

Most repairs are home in two to three weeks. Simple work can be quicker, and we will tell you when you drop it off.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Come into any showroom during opening hours with the piece.

Who does the work?

Our own goldsmiths, on our own benches. The person who looks at your ring is the person who can fix it.

Katelyn helped me resize and refresh my wedding ring. She was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly sweet. She made the experience easy and enjoyable, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I highly recommend asking for Katelyn

Had a fantastic experience at J David! Bought an engagement ring last year and a wedding band this year. Maelei and Susan were especially super helpful and patient with us and found us the perfect matches!

One big request I had for Hayley was to make sure any leftover gold from the ring was returned to me. Not only did she make sure I got the gold, but Scott even turned it into a small pendant!
