Lifetime Care Plan

The Lifetime Care Plan is a plan you add to your purchase at J. David Jewelry, at any of our three Tulsa showrooms in Broken Arrow, South Tulsa and Brookside. It is provided by Montage Jewelry Care, and it gives a piece from us a home to come back to, with our own goldsmiths to care for it. Our showroom staff will walk you through exactly what your plan includes.

A home to come back to

Jewelry chosen for a lifetime gets lived in. It goes to work. It gardens. It holds babies and catches door frames, and comes through thousands of ordinary days.

Years from now there will be a setting worn thin, a clasp gone tired, a ring that no longer sits the way it did. What matters on that day is simple. There is somewhere to take it, and someone there who knows the piece.

That is the Lifetime Care Plan: a plan you add to your purchase, so the piece you chose always has a home to come back to.

Our own goldsmiths, always

There are five master jewelers on our own benches. The work on your piece is done by our own goldsmiths, in the building, never sent out.

It means the hands that care for your ring in twenty years belong to the same house that placed it in yours. A piece from J. David is never a stranger here.

What a plan like this looks after

The plan is provided by Montage Jewelry Care, a company whose whole work is care plans for fine jewelry and watches, offered through jewelers like us. Montage describes its jewelry plans as looking after the things a well-loved piece comes to need:

  • Ring sizing.
  • Settings and mountings that have bent, broken or worn, and a diamond or gem that needs tightening or resetting.
  • A ring's foundation that has cracked or worn thin.
  • Rhodium plating for white gold.
  • Broken chains and bracelets, kinks and knots, earring posts and backs.
  • Pearl strands that have stretched or broken.
  • A diamond or gem that has chipped or cracked.

On Montage's Lifetime plan, that care reaches the center diamond or gem as well.

That is the provider's own summary. The plan you choose is a written agreement, and the agreement is what says exactly what yours includes and what it does not.

The details belong in a conversation

A plan deserves more than a paragraph on a screen. Ask any member of our showroom staff while you are choosing your piece, and they will go through the agreement with you, line by line, before you decide. We do not print the plan's price here; ask us, and we will tell you plainly for the piece you are choosing.

Good questions to bring:

  • What the plan cares for, and what it does not.
  • Whether it asks anything of you along the way.
  • What it costs for the piece you are choosing.
  • How long it lasts, and whether it stays with the piece if you give it to someone you love.

When a piece needs care

Bring it back to us, with your original sales receipt. Montage asks for both, so keep the receipt somewhere you will find it in ten years.

If life has taken you away from Tulsa by then, the plan is not left behind. Montage can point you to another registered provider nearer to where you are.

Care and insurance are different promises

A care plan and an insurance policy do different work, and it is worth knowing which is which. Care is about wearing: the upkeep that a well-loved piece will ask for over the years. Insurance is about loss: a ring gone missing on a trip, a theft. That comes from an insurer, and an insurer will ask for an appraisal, which is something we do.

Many of our guests carry both. One looks after the piece. The other looks after you if the piece is ever gone.

The everyday care is ours either way: cleaning and inspection is free, and repairs are done on our own benches.

Good Questions

The things people actually ask.

What is the Lifetime Care Plan?

It is a plan you add to your purchase at J. David Jewelry, provided by Montage Jewelry Care, so the piece has a home to come back to and our own goldsmiths to care for it. Our showroom staff will go through what it includes with you.

What does the plan look after?

Montage describes its jewelry plans as looking after ring sizing, settings and mountings, rhodium plating of white gold, broken chains, bracelets and earring posts, stretched or broken pearl strands, and a diamond or gem that is chipped or cracked, with the center diamond or gem included on its Lifetime plan. Your own agreement says exactly what yours includes.

When do I add the plan?

It is added to your purchase, so the moment to ask is while you are choosing the piece. The member of staff helping you will go through it with you.

What do I bring when a piece needs care?

The piece and your original sales receipt. Bring both to any of our three showrooms.

Is the Lifetime Care Plan the same as jewelry insurance?

No. A care plan looks after a piece as it is worn. Insurance answers loss and theft, and it comes from an insurer. Many guests carry both, and an appraisal from us is the document an insurer asks for.

Who does the work?

Our own goldsmiths, on our own benches. There are five master jewelers at J. David Jewelry today.

One big request I had for Hayley was to make sure any leftover gold from the ring was returned to me. Not only did she make sure I got the gold, but Scott even turned it into a small pendant!
